Chicago Fire FC (0-1-1, 1 point) faced D.C. United (0-0-2, 2 points) Saturday night at Soldier Field. Where striker Hugo Cuypers scored his first two goals of the season, while the team received its first point of the season, on the coldest opening match for Chicago Fire FC.

Starting the match D.C. United had control of the ball having the first attempt in minute 3’ saved by Fire goalkeeper, Chris Brady. With D.C. in the attack mode having to score the first goal of the match. Christian Benteke shot towards the lower left side from the center of the box with his right foot. Having been assisted by Gabriel Pirani, and the second was assisted by David Schnegg. Leaving the scoreboard 1-0.

Following the goal by DC United, Fire showed dominance and had three goal attempts that were missed. In minute 28, Hugo Cuypers’ attempt to score the equalizer ended up hitting the crossbar from the center box. Just a few minutes after the mouth dropped the crossbar, Hugo Cuypers, with a heater from the center box, scored the equalizer goal, making the score 1-1. This shook the crowd and raised the Chicago Fire fans’ spirit.

Before leaving the first half of the game in a tie, both teams showed dominance, with both teams trying to score their second goal. Fortunately Kye Rowels from D.C. United is shown the first yellow card of the game.

With neither team being able to score, the game went into halftime with the scoreboard of Chicago Fire FC 1 and D.C. United 1.

The second half went well when, at 50’ minutes, Aaron Herrera from D.C. United was given a Yellow card. Marking the second Yellow card of the game.

Getting closer to 90’ minutes, Sam Rogers from Fice received a yellow card from inside the box, giving D.C. United had a penalty kick in 90’1+1 minute. Christian Benteke’s from D.C. United missed the penalty, making the ball go over the crossbar.

Not Giving up. D.C. United was rewarded a corner kick at 90’+5, executed by Aaron Herrera. With an assist from Matti Peltola, Jacob Murell was able to score a GOAL in the last remaining seconds of the game. Making the score 2-2 against Chicago Fire FC. Finishing Round 2 for the MLS season.
