On October 4, 2025, Chicago Fire FC and Toronto FC played to a dramatic 2-2 draw at Soldier Field. Chicago defender Jack Elliott scored both goals for the Fire, marking the second brace of his career. Both goals were assisted by winger Philip Zinckernagel, who broke the club’s single-season records for assists and total goal contributions with his 15th assist of the season. With the draw, Chicago moved to 52 points, placing them eighth in the Eastern Conference—just one point behind seventh-place Orlando City SC.

Toronto took the lead in the 27th minute after a counterattack resulted in an own goal. Chicago equalized in the 71st minute when Elliott headed in a Zinckernagel corner. In the 88th minute, the same duo connected again from a set piece, giving the Fire a late 2-1 advantage. However, deep into stoppage time, Toronto was awarded a penalty. Although Chicago goalkeeper Chris Brady initially saved the attempt, the rebound fell to Toronto’s Djordje Mihailovic, who scored to secure the draw, leaving both teams to settle for a single point.
