The Chicago Fire secured a 2-0 victory over the Columbus Crew at Soldier Field on Saturday night, marking their second straight clean sheet and 14th win of the 2025 season. With the win, Chicago improved to 48 points, moving five points clear of the New York Red Bulls and strengthening their hold on ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Defender Andrew Gutman opened the scoring in the 25th minute with his third goal of the season, bending a well-placed shot into the far corner. Despite dominating possession and generating multiple opportunities, including two disallowed goals, the Fire entered halftime with only a 1-0 advantage. Their organized defense and high tempo limited Columbus’ offensive rhythm throughout the match.

In the second half, Chicago maintained control and extended the lead in the 70th minute. Midfielder André Franco set up Hugo Cuypers, who finished confidently for his 17th goal of the season. Goalkeeper Chris Brady made several key stops to preserve the shutout—his fifth of the campaign—as the Fire continued their late-season push for a playoff berth with another strong all-around performance.
