Chicago, IL – April 14, 2025

Chicago Fire FC earned their first clean sheet of the 2025 MLS season in a 0-0 draw against Inter Miami CF on Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field. The match played in front of a record-setting crowd of 62,358 fans, was a highly anticipated clash between two Eastern Conference contenders. As a result, Chicago moved to a 3-2-3 record (12 points), while Inter Miami remained unbeaten at 4-0-3 (15 points). Despite the lack of goals, the game featured several close-scoring opportunities and strong defensive play from both sides.

The first half was marked by physical play and rising tension, with five yellow cards handed out between the two teams. Both squads battled for control in midfield, but neither side could find a breakthrough. The Fire showed early promise with quick transitions, while Inter Miami relied on their experienced attacking players, including Lionel Messi, to generate chances. As the match progressed, the stakes and intensity continued to rise.

The second half saw more attacking urgency, with the biggest moment coming in the 63rd minute when Inter Miami earned a free kick just outside the box. Messi stepped up and delivered a curling shot over the wall, forcing Chicago goalkeeper Chris Brady into a fingertip save to keep the match level. Messi remained dangerous throughout the half and nearly won it for Miami in the 86th minute when his shot struck the frame of the goal.

Chicago also came close to scoring late in the game, as Jonathan Bamba had a prime opportunity in stoppage time. After a smart combination with Maren Haile-Selassie, Bamba found himself one-on-one with Miami goalkeeper Oscar Ustari. His shot was well-placed, but Ustari charged off his line to make the save and preserve the shutout. It was a fitting end to a match that featured outstanding goalkeeping and defensive discipline.

There were several standout performances for Chicago, including Brady, who recorded three saves and his first clean sheet of the year. Omari Glasgow impressed in his second start of the season at right back, filling in for the injured Leonardo Barroso and effectively shutting down Miami’s left flank. Jack Elliott made a successful return from injury, playing the full 90 minutes alongside Carlos Terán in central defense. New signing Dje D’Avilla also made his club debut, entering the match in the 80th minute.

Looking ahead, Chicago Fire FC will remain at home to take on FC Cincinnati in another Eastern Conference matchup on Saturday, April 19. The game is set for a 7:30 p.m. CT kickoff and will be available to watch on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV, with local audio streams in both English and Spanish. With momentum from a strong defensive showing and the support of a record-setting home crowd, the Fire will aim to secure all three points in their next outing.
