Chicago Stars Shine in Home Opener with First Win of the Season

Chicago Stars FC secured their first win of the season with a 2–1 victory over Kansas City Current in their home opener. The match began as a back-and-forth contest, with both teams creating chances, but Chicago gradually found their rhythm and became more dangerous in attack as the first half progressed.

The breakthrough came in the 43rd minute when rookie Tessa Dellarose scored her first professional goal, finishing a loose ball in the box to give Chicago a 1–0 lead heading into halftime. The goal capped off a strong attacking spell for the Stars, who had just missed an earlier opportunity moments before.

Chicago carried that momentum into the second half, doubling their lead in the 50th minute when Jordyn Huitema headed home a well-worked play involving Julia Grosso and Ryan Gareis. Although Kansas City pulled one back shortly after, Chicago stayed composed defensively and closed out the match to earn all three points.
